Day 1: Aerial LiDAR and YellowScan CloudStation

Focus: Field setup, best practices, and data acquisition fundamentals

• LiDAR 101 – Introduction to LiDAR technology, sensor types, and key applications.
• YellowScan Portfolio Overview – Capabilities, specifications, and use cases for each system in the YellowScan lineup.
• Flight Planning Theory – Airspace considerations, mission design, and efficiency strategies.
• Scanner Calibration and Health Checks – Pre-flight inspection, IMU warm-up, and GNSS/INS alignment best practices.
• LiDAR Data Collection Theory & Field Best Practices – How to set up for optimal point density, accuracy, and safety in aerial surveys.
• CloudStation Deep Dive – Workflow from raw scan to georeferenced point cloud, including strip alignment and QC.
• Setting up TBC for LiDAR Rendering – Configuring project settings for LiDAR datasets.
• Importing Multi-Source Data into TBC – Integrating aerial, mobile, and terrestrial scan data for unified analysis.


Day 2: Point Cloud Data in TBC

Focus: Processing, analysis, and creating deliverables from LiDAR datasets

  • Local & Custom Coordinate Systems – Setting up survey control and transforming datasets.
  • Breaklines & Feature Extraction – Digitizing key features for engineering and mapping projects.
  • Surface Generation – Creating and refining TINs and DEMs.
  • Automation Tools in TBC – Leveraging new automated classification, extraction, and QC workflows.
  • Creating Deliverables from Aerial Data – Generating final products such as contours, volume reports, and CAD deliverables for clients.
