Join us for our 6 Module Series focused on Trimble Business Center!
All modules will be conducted at Frontier Precision | 5701 Silverado Way, Unit J | Anchorage, AK 99518
MODULE 1 | Thursday, November 2, 2017
The Fundamentals: Intro to TBC, Coordinate Systems
In the first module, we will discuss the TBC interface, program and project settings, and how to create templates. We will also review data import/export types and basics of the office-field-office workflow. Finally, we will go over geodesy fundamentals: datums and coordinate systems, transformations, and how TBC handles spatial information. This class is critical for new users and those who have not yet attended training for TBC.
MODULE 2 | Thursday, November 9, 2017
Data Processing & Adjustment – GNSS
This module will focus on how to get the best results from GNSS measurements. We will cover basic error theory, how it relates to GNSS, then move on to processing static data, with emphasis on error trapping, QA/QC and best practices for network adjustment. We will be working with actual datasets that require troubleshooting, cleanup and adjustment. Relative positional precision will be discussed, as well as integrated reporting. Finally, we will review RTK data and its use in control networks.
MODULE 3 | Thursday, November 16, 2017
Data Processing & Adjustment – Conventional / Mixed
Total station or “conventional” data is the focus of this module; specifically, traverse/control observations and TBC’s traverse adjustment routine. We will build on Module 2 by introducing mixed-observation network adjustments (incorporating both GNSS and TS data) and coordinate system considerations (grid vs. ground) in these cases. After some more hands-on with real-world data, we will review processing and address best practices when it comes to project control and documentation.
MODULE 4 | Thursday, November 30, 2017
Topographic Data, Feature Codes, Surfaces & CAD Export
Now that we have covered the basics of control, it is time to address topographic data – the RTK, PPK and total station side-shots which make up the bulk of survey data. We will discuss workflow for data import and QA/QC. Feature Codes will also be introduced in this module – we will work with the Feature Definition Manager to develop libraries for field-to-finish (F2F) functionality. Finally, we will explore digital deliverables such as surfaces, CAD drawings, and point files.
MODULE 5 | Thursday, December 7, 2017
Drafting, COGO & Document Generation
In Module 5 we will continue with feature codes in more depth, as we work with the integrated drafting tools to establish templates, create sheet sets, and generate softcopy deliverables. Embedded COGO functions will be introduced as well.
MODULE 6 | Thursday, December 14, 2017
Enhanced Deliverables & Wrap Up
In the sixth and final module, we will explore enhanced deliverables such as photo stations, point clouds, and GIS. Workflow for capturing and making use of these additional data types will be covered, as well as the benefits of these value-added services. We will also address any remaining questions students might have and conduct a course evaluation.
