Basic Data Dictionary Creation

Pathfinder Office’s Data Dictionary editor is a powerful tool that can create a framework of attributes to collect while recording geospatial points with TerraSync. By using a data dictionary in your data collection workflow if set up properly can reduce the need for intensive QA/QC, data validation and data entry. The following Tech Talk will give an introduction to setting up your own data dictionary.

It is important before embarking on creating a complex or simple data dictionary to identify the assets or features that will be encountered during field collection. The table below shows the features that will be added to the data dictionary created in the following Tech Talk. By taking the time to plan what attributes need to be created it cuts down on erroneous information and lets field users know what they need to collect.
