It appered to be a fatal blow to Lightsquared, the would-be GPS-killer; the FCC testing conclusively determined that Lightsquared’s proposed LTE sytstem would cause unacceptible interference with GPS and financial backers including Sprint withdrew their support.  But what seemed a death knell may have been slightly premature.

On January 27th the FCC opened a new comment period on Lightsquared and GPS. In lieu of that, Sprint has also given Lighsquared more time. Below are links to some of the details. We need to share this information around and to be sure to voice how this would negatively impact your use of GPS.
